A self-confessed advocate of body positivity, feminism, and hippy dippy love n’ peace, Robyn Kennedy is a bit of us. A lover of food (aren’t we all), she dislikes the word ‘foodie’, but will use it until she finds a better term, Robyn is a yoga teacher on the way to discovering her true calling, while enjoying all that life has to offer. We love Robyn's down to earth, authentic approach to wellbeing and we can’t wait for her to join us on our ‘Eating clear, not clean’ panel at Float this September. We had a quick chinwag with Robyn to find out why she’s excited that wellness is making its way up north, what brings her joy and happiness, and where we can find her at the weekend.
What is your company, what do you do and what makes in special?
I’m a yoga teacher based in Glasgow! I teach classes that are specifically tailored to people that work out, work too much and need to calm down! It’s approachable yoga, with elements of relaxation and mindfulness (and always a pinch of humour!)
Why did you want to be a part of Float?
I love the idea of bringing the wellness scene up north of London - not fair they get all the fun! ;)
What comes to mind when you hear the word wellness?
To me, It’s about looking after body mind and spirit- and always a little of what you fancy does you good.
What about your work gives you the most joy?
I work to bring happiness, balance and hopefully physical changes to people’s lives. Nothing makes me happier than someone telling me they feel better walking out of class than when they did walking in!
Do you think influencers have a role or responsibility to create conversation around wellbeing?
I think influencers have a responsibility to be aware of the content they create and he kind of message they are sharing with their followers.
What is the most important lesson you have learnt?
Never ever assume! (Check every detail twice, then once again just in case!).
Who inspires you?
Anyone out there following their dreams, doing their own thing, no matter what society says is the ‘right’ thing to do!
Do you have any morning rituals?
I always have a shot of Symprove Probiotic, water (sometimes with vitamins in) and once I’ve cleansed my face, moisturized I’ll have my first coffee!
If you could invite three people to a dinner party, who would they be?
I’m assuming you mean dead or alive ... it would be Nigel Slater, Anthony Bourdain & James Taylor.
What gets you motivated?
Having something to work towards!
Where can we find you at the weekend?
Usually the gym, a yoga class followed by brunch and possibly a cheeky glass of red in the evening with Friends.
What are you reading/watching listening to right now?
Reading - eat, pray love.
Watching - on Netflix I can be found Watching Somebody Feed Phil or Friend’s because it’s so soothing to me.
Listening - I’m a massive podcast person, and particularly love ‘Girls gotta eat’.
